Discover the New-Look CINAHL

Looking for nursing and allied health evidence? CINAHL is one of the key resources available to health and social care staff in Scotland, providing access to high-quality journals, books, dissertations, conference proceedings, clinical trials and much more. It covers a wide range of topics including nursing, biomedicine, alternative/ complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines.

You can access CINAHL and other EBSCO databases free of charge with an NHS Scotland OpenAthens account: OpenAthens account | The Knowledge Network

Same trusted content, new experience

CINAHL has recently had a refresh, bringing an updated, more accessible interface and additional search features while keeping all the great content you rely on.

Updated functionality includes:

  • Natural Language searching for simple, conversational searches
  • PICOT searching to help structure searches
  • The ability to save, rerun and share searches more easily
  • Auto-personalisation features to tailor your experience

Find out more and access helpful guidance on our EBSCO databases help page: EBSCO databases | The Knowledge Network

Personalise your EBSCO experience

Creating a MyEBSCO account is optional, but it unlocks useful features, including:

  • Saving and sharing search sets
  • Saving and organising references
  • Accessing credits and certificates

From 10 August 2026, MyEBSCO accounts will move to single sign-on, allowing users to sign in with their NHS Scotland work email address. Existing account holders will be contacted and guided through a simple process to merge accounts and keep their saved content.
