Finding information lunch and learns are back! This six-webinar series will run every Tuesday from 20th Oct - 24th Nov.

If you work in health and social care in Scotland, you need access to an up-to-date, quality assured evidence base. Join us for our bitesize lunch and learn webinars to help you find that evidence.

📅Tuesday 20th October 1:00-1:45pm

What do you need to know? Defining your information need or research question.
This session will get you thinking about what information you need, what you are going to do with that information, and where you should start your search. It will also help you analyse your question to identify key concepts and search terms.

📅Tuesday 27th October 1:00-1:45pm

Key resources on The Knowledge Network
This session will introduce you to key resources available via The Knowledge Network digital library. It will also get you started with top tips for running a more focused search to find journals, articles and eBooks using The Knowledge Network Library Search including a preview of the new look Library Search launching late 2026!

Getting the best out of web searching
Searching for information on the web can be tricky. This session will give you top tips to get to the information you need more quickly, including how to get the best out of generative AI tools like Copilot. It will also introduce some tools to help you evaluate the information you find.

Getting started with databases

If you need a deeper dive or to conduct more complex searches, you should check out the range of databases available via The Knowledge Network. This session will show you where to find them and get started using them, including using keyword searching and controlled vocabularies.

Beginner's guide to referencing and plagiarism

This session will cover the basics of referencing and plagiarism, including how to reference using different styles, and an introduction to reference management software.

📅Tuesday 24th November 1:00-1:45pm

An introduction to different study types

This final session will help you choose the best study type to meet your information need, as well as covering the strengths and weaknesses of the most common types of study.

All sessions last 30 minutes with an optional 15 minutes for questions. Register for all or as many as you like!
