Who we are
The Knowledge Network is managed by the knowledge services team, part of the Knowledge Management and Discovery Unit at NHS Education for Scotland. The unit consists of knowledge management professionals, eLearning experts and content management specialists.
What we do
The team administer The Knowledge Network on behalf of health and social care in Scotland. This includes the resources and software behind The Knowledge Network.
Our Mission: The Knowledge Management and Discovery Business Unit develops and manages knowledge, evidence and learning resources to support the health and care workforce in Scotland to deliver excellence in care.
Our values: All health and care staff have access to learning resources, knowledge and evidence to use the right information at the right time to deliver quality evidence based care.
Policies, governance and strategies
Currently the team are working in partnership with Healthcare Improvement Scotland and other external colleagues to develop new national guidance ‘Realising the Value of Knowledge’. This guidance will help local and national decision-makers to build their knowledge services to deliver value-based health and care across Scotland.
Over the years Knowledge Services Group worked with partners to implement a number of strategies 'From Knowing to Doing' (2006-2009), Enabling partnerships: sharing knowledge to build the mutual NHS (2010-2012) and Getting Knowledge into Action for Healthcare Quality: Report of strategic review and recommendations (2012).
To read about the outcome of the implementation plan, see the report Knowledge Into Action in Scotland's Health and Social Services (2016).
Supporting NHS and partner libraries across Scotland
The team supports NHS Board libraries and staff involved with helping health and social care access high quality resources.
